We are passionate about sustainable shopping - buying vintage is the perfect way to reduce our impact on the environment whilst also giving new life to beautiful things that were made to last. The book is in good condition for its age with some minor discolouration on the edges of the pages and some wear at the corners of the covers. This would be a great read for younger children and those who love authors such as Susan Cooper and Alan Garner. ![]() ![]() The author has drawn on his knowledge of Scottish folk lore to add detail to the story. This fairy tale like story involving hill top tree rings, Beltane fires, and dragons feels a little like C S Lewis and has a hint of Tolkien's more whimsical writing, like Farmer Giles of Ham and Tom Bombadil. William Croft Dickinson (28 August 1897 – May 1963) was an English historian, a leading expert in the history of early modern Scotland and an author of both children's fiction and adult ghost stories.īorrobil was first published in 1944 and this is the first paperback edition published in 1964. ![]()
